TU MAI BLOG-IT Have you say

Statistics NZ predict that by 2021, Maori population will increase 29% to 760,000; Asians will increase 145% to 270000 and Pacific peoples will increase by 59% to 420,000. However, Europeans will only see an increase of 5%.

Do you think this is a fantastic evolution of this country (SNOG)? Something to be really concerned about (FLOG)? Or you don't really care (LOG)? Have your say here ..

Our last Blog topic was Asian and Polynesian content for TU MAI -
Yes, No or Maybe?

From our perspective, the inclusion of Polynesian and Asian content was never about comprising the Maori essence of TU MAI. We believe TU MAI is mature and market ready enough to boldly be more inclusive in our content, as opposed to limiting our horizons and therefore our market. See what others had to say and at last count SNOGs were ahead.

Kia Ora whanau ma from Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Was pondering this blog topic and was getting tino excited about the evolving face of Kiwitanga that's coming through. Chaa! My thoughts are... simply that...

May the evolution of our beautiful country and the people that our whenua houses, all grow abundantly alongside each other, in the bountiful amounts that their destinies allow them to grow in the individual unique Kiwi tribes, that make up the whole package of a diverse and Aroha rich people.

These stats excite me, because we are we who are, and acceptance is always the key to knowing what we have that is a taonga within the unique shores of Aotearoa/ New Zealand. This blog topic incites us to think about how we can house future New Zealands better and more inclusively... so kia ora to raising thought around these important emerging facts.

FINALLY: Congratulations TU MAI magazine for 100 great issues of giving us all in NZ a unique voice. Love ya! And wow!!! What a bumper issue with a beautiful look and feel too in form, layout and the great content. I'm treasuring my copy here in LA. & celebrating your relevancy of inclusion to all of us, in NZ and all over the world. Thank you for 100 taonga to date!

It can only be a good thing first because it's happening anyway; second, it forces us to think and to respond, hopefully in an optimistic, open fashion and third, cos it makes our playgrounds even cooler - imagine all the wicked games our kids will be playing. We have to do something to replace Bullrush!!!

Diversity brings strength. We either adapt or die; civilisations / races who have isolated themselves have eventually died because they cannot change to the inevitable. Aotearoa has become the country it is through migration in one form or another and from mixing the bloodlines of all those who arrived.

If we close the doors, the future will be bleak.

Statistics have already been stipulated that the population of Asians in NZ are scattered throughout our towns and cities, we are a unique country that is slowly becoming overpopulated with other ethnicities.

Environmental issues have become a vital necessity of polution both in the air and in our water ways, we are having trouble trying to find solutions to these problems with our own people and now we have to educate other cultures to respect land issues of our beautiful country.

I first heard this statistic two years ago at an international conference at Monash University held by the Department of Indigenous studies from that University. It will change the face (no pun intended) of our country for the better and I look forward to being here to see it happen.

This is brilliant! Aotearoa is now becoming true Godzone, where the general population is truly a melting pot of races and creeds.
